To our loyal followers, I need to let you know where things stand. With three weeks till Santa, our team are all stressed. We’ve just come out of our last committee meeting of the year where we’ve carefully reviewed where things stand financially and as a group decided we have no choice but to launch an urgent fundraiser to clear our vet bills tonight.

It’s critical as our rescue needs urgent funds to continue doing what we do best and we are putting it all on the line tonight. We know Christmas is a time for holidays and festive cheer for most, however for the majority of our team, we will be working through. We will be bottle feeding, attending emergency vet visits and just being on hand for that urgent call for help. Emergencies unfortunately do not stop when Santa comes…

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had call after call, we’ve had no let up. We thought things might improve a little but to be honest, we seem to be completely run off our feet. Tonight, we need to give our team a little Xmas cheer so we’ve launched our urgent fundraiser. Our foster carers and volunteers are run off their feet quite literally,

It’s urgent, I can’t put it any other way. Our vet bills for the month of November were $85,666. We’ve had emergency case after emergency case. We fear what the new year will hold. It’s notoriously bad. We’re hoping with all our might it’s not, but we are planning for the worst. We just have to.

I wanted to provide you an update on precious Burberry. She’s been through so much. Her latest surgery to remove 2 lumps from/around her mammaries went well. Poor baby is groggy and her blood sugar levels were a bit. She is resting up no and there is a long road ahead for this precious girl. We will stick by her every step of the way, it’s our promise to you.

We’ve also just picked up a bull arab x white with black spots. Approx 2 years old. Was found wandering with another male bull arab "Barton". This boy is very happy go lucky and like a big cuddly teddy bear. Unfortunately on further inspection he has terrible knees, kneecaps are both displaced, that will require surgery. We’ll know more in the next week but again, this poor one will require a lot of tender loving care.

Then there is Morrison, an adorable 4 month old cane Corso pup with who came to us with a horrific injury. This sweet giant baby faced a tragically fell off his owner's buggy, resulting in a severely broken femur.

Now, Morrison is on a challenging 12-week crated recovery journey, coupled with ongoing physical therapy to help him regain his strength.  we have many other expensive surgeries happening as we speak, really too many to list here. I’m sure you can see that so many of the dogs and pups we bring in require extensive surgery which results in so much rehabilitation after the initial work has been done.

Early mornings, late nights, birthdays interrupted, celebrations disrupted with family members. It’s part of rescue and especially at this time of year our team feel it the most. It’s tough to abruptly leave the Xmas party because you have received a call about a dog that needs urgent attention. However, our team do this again and again. It’s dogs before family. Always. Never a question of doubt…

I’m proud of them. I really am but there comes a limit where exhaustion both mentally and physically kicks in. It’s so hard to keep on going as you can imagine with no end in sight especially when everyone is out celebrating and in the festive spirit.

I’m hoping that tonight we can put a smile back on their face. It’s in your hands to help us raise $50,000 which will help clear our vet bills and allow us some breathing room heading into the new year. It is just so important we get there. I hope you understand. Our dogs and pups are just so precious to us.

They are our lives, it what motivates all of us to keep on going especially at this time of year. I know our team will be constantly refreshing our page through the night. I’ve told them we are launching this emergency fundraiser tonight. I’m really hoping when I wake up in the morning we will have something to cheer about. They really all deserve it.

Just $5 from each and every one of you would help us so very much. It’s the cost of your next cup of coffee but one that will help pay the vet bills and allow us to continue saying YES to more pups and dogs that need help in their darkest hours.
